Options, options and more options. Feeling overwhelmed? Sofa shopping can be exhausting for most people, because we all want to make the right choice. But with so many options available, the decision can be a tough one! Save yourself some time and follow these helpful tips: 1. Size Matters! Lets face it – everyone's livingroom isn't the same size. Just because your friend has an amazing huge sectional that looks great in her room, that certainly does not mean you should buy the same one. Always choose a sofa that is size appropriate. One common reason I hear from people replacing their sofa is “ Mine is too big for the room!” 2. Function! Decide on how this set will be used. Is this for a formal sitting room? Move towards a firm seat. Will your family gather on this to watch movies? How about something with a recliner built in. Narrowing down the function of the room and sofa will help narrow down your options. 3. Material! Fabric or leather? Micro-fiber or chenille? Use the process of elimination. Again, who will use this sofa and how? Keeping this in mind will help you choose the material that will work best in your home. For example, if you have cats that love scratching, maybe leather isn't for you! 4. Colour! We all want our sofa to look great, and maybe you've always dreamed about having a stunning white sofa. But the reality is, with 3 kids and a few pets, white isn't a great option. Be realistic with your search, it will save you not only time, but your hard earned money as well. Picking colours that are trendy is always a dangerous option. Think about how long you want to own this sofa and how that colour will look in a few years. 5. Style! This is the step where you add your own personality. Are you formal or funky? Choose a sofa that will flow with the rest of your home and compliment it. This does not mean that all your furniture needs to be the same color. Style and color are completely different. Furniture styles makes a statement about who we are. Decide what statement that is!
