To Our Valued Customers,
As the situation around COVID-19 (Coronavirus) continues to evolve, we wanted to provide an update on how Surplus Furniture & Mattress Warehouse is responding to support our customers. We want to assure everyone that the health and wellbeing of our customers is our highest priority. As we continue to monitor and assess the impact of COVID-19, we are being diligent and proactive in our precautionary measures at all our stores across Canada, to help limit the spread of the virus. We are closely monitoring the guidelines provided by the Public Health Agency of Canada and we are continuing to assess the situation daily. Our emphasis is to be diligent with practices to ensure the health and safety of all our customers, while also ensuring we can continue to deliver the highest service to our customers.
As of today and in the Provinces where permitted, Surplus Furniture stores will remain open for business for limited hours (check our website for hours) and are prepared to serve our customers as long as it is safe to do so. We will continue to educate all our staff members on the latest developments, as they are made available, so we can do our part to ensure limiting the spread of the virus. We want to protect the health and safety of our customers and want you to feel at ease during any visit to one of our stores and/or while receiving a delivery through one of our 3rd Party Delivery Services, knowing we are focused on preventative measures (such as):
At Store Level
Intensified Cleaning: Our stores are being cleaned and sanitized regularly as a normal course of business. However, we have increased the frequency and intensity of those cleanings to ensure our spaces are as safe as possible.
Regular Hand Washing: We continue to emphasize good hygiene at our stores with ongoing communications to our employees about the importance of frequent hand washing and the cleaning of work surfaces.
Social Distancing: Since the transmission of the virus is most commonly SPREAD from an infected person through respiratory droplets and enhanced via hand to hand contact, we have proactively asked our employees to avoid shaking hands with customers, fellow employees, and other visitors to our stores. Our approach to customer service hasn’t changed! We value every customer that walks in our doors more than ever and that’s why we will be replacing handshakes with smiles and waves.
Employees in our Stores: If any one of our employees is feeling ill (for any reason), they will be asked to stay home until they are feeling well again. As well, we will follow the self-isolation protocol implemented by the Public Health Agency of Canada when needed or should the situations arise.
During Customer Deliveries
Delivery Companies: We have implemented protocols to ensure the health and safety of all our customers while a customer delivery is taking place. This will include proper safety measures with the drivers before, during and after the delivery occurs both with the drivers and their equipment and truck. Also, any personal items used by the delivery company to aid in ensuring a clean and sanitary delivery will be discarded after every delivery.
As things are changing daily, we are monitoring and adapting our business accordingly. Rest assured, we will do everything possible to ensure the safety of our customers during these times. We will do our part.
We urge everyone to take the appropriate measures to stay safe. We are including a link to the government resource/fact sheets that will hopefully assist anyone who may have questions regarding COVID-19 and how to reduce the spread of the virus.
Thank you for your loyalty. Stay safe.
