Rules and Regulations for Win $1000 in Furniture Giveaway Contest

THIS CONTEST IS INTENDED FOR RESIDENTS OF CANADA (OTHER THAN RESIDENTS OF THE PROVINCES OF QUEBEC, BRITISH COLUMBIA, AND THE TERRITORIES) ONLY.
THIS CONTEST WILL BE INTERPRETED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CANADIAN LAW.

 

1. CONTEST PERIOD:
The Surplus Furniture Win $1000 in Furniture Giveaway contest ("Contest”) begins on Monday, July 20, 2026 at 9 a.m. and ends on August 30, 2026 at 9 a.m. EST ("Contest Period").

 

2. SPONSOR:
Surplus Furniture & Mattress Warehouse is the sponsor of the Contest (“Sponsor”). This Contest is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook®. Furthermore, each entrant completely releases Facebook® from any liability or obligation with respect to this Contest.

 

3. ELIGIBILITY:
The Contest is open to residents of Canada (other than residents of the provinces of Quebec, British Columbia, and the Territories, and Canadian residents living more than a 1-hour distance from the closest Surplus Furniture location) who have reached the legal age of majority in their province or territory of residence by the end of the Contest Period, except for employees (and persons with whom they are domiciled, whether related or not) of the Sponsor. Entrants must be registered as a student with any post-secondary institution.

By participating in the contest, each entrant agrees to be bound by these Rules and Regulations (“Rules”) and the interpretation of these Rules by the Sponsor. These Rules can be found on the Sponsor’s website at surplusfurniture.com/back-to-school-giveaway (“Website”).

 

4. HOW TO ENTER: NO PURCHASE NECESSARY
To enter the Contest (“Entry”), entrants must:

• Fill out the online contest entry form

Entrants acknowledge that they are providing information directly to the Sponsor and not to Facebook®.

 

5. ENTRY LIMIT:
There is a limit of one Entry per person during the Contest Period, regardless of the method of entry. If it is discovered by the Sponsor that any person has attempted to:
(a) submit more than one entry per day;
(b) use multiple names, identities, or email addresses; and/or
(c) use any automated, macro, script, robotic or other system(s) or program(s) to enter or disrupt the Contest,
then such person may be disqualified at the Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion.

 

6. VERIFICATION OF ENTRY:
All Entries are subject to verification at any time. The Sponsor reserves the right to require proof of identity or eligibility in a form acceptable to the Sponsor, including without limitation, government-issued photo identification.

Failure to provide adequate proof may result in disqualification.

 

7. THE PRIZE AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE:
There will be one (1) prize available to be won:

• A $1000 in-store credit for furniture at Surplus Furniture
• Delivery charges excluded
• No cash value; non-transferable
• Prize must be used within 12 months of being issued

 

8. WINNER SELECTION PROCESS & ODDS OF WINNING:
After the Contest closes at approximately 9:00 a.m. EST on August 24, 2025, one eligible entrant will be randomly selected from all eligible Entries received.

Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible Entries received during the Contest Period.

 

9. WINNER NOTIFICATION PROCESS:
The Sponsor will attempt to contact the selected entrant via the information provided within 2 business days of the draw. If the entrant cannot be contacted within that time or the message is undeliverable, the Sponsor reserves the right to select a new winner.

 

10. WINNER CONFIRMATION PROCESS:
Before being declared the confirmed winner, the selected entrant must:
(a) Correctly answer a skill-testing question without aid; and
(b) Sign and return a release form within 10 business days, confirming:

• Compliance with the Rules
• Acceptance of the Prize
• Release of the Sponsor and affiliated parties from liability
• Consent to the use of their name, image, and statements for promotional purposes without further compensation

Failure to meet any of these conditions may result in disqualification, and a new entrant may be selected at the Sponsor's discretion.

 

11. GENERAL CONDITIONS:
All Entries become the property of the Sponsor. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws. Decisions of the Sponsor are final on all matters.

The Sponsor and its affiliates are not responsible for:

• Website issues
• Technical failures
• Lost or delayed Entries
• Equipment or software malfunctions
• Damage to user devices during participation

If a dispute arises regarding an Entry, the authorized account holder of the email address used to submit the entry will be considered the entrant.

The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify the Contest without notice due to technical issues, fraud, or other circumstances beyond their control.

Any attempt to tamper with the Contest may result in legal action.

By entering, participants consent to the Sponsor collecting and using personal information only for the purposes of administering the Contest and in accordance with the privacy policy available on the Sponsor’s website.

If discrepancies arise between these Rules and promotional materials, these Rules shall govern.
