Have you ever heard anyone say “My apartment has way too much storage space?” Nope, me either. We all know that its human nature to collect and whether you live in a tiny apartment or the Taj Mahal, the “stuff” you own naturally expands to fill the space provided.

Finding adequate storage is a challenge for any apartment renters. Living in a small area fifteen stories high doesn’t give you a lot of expansion options! Luckily, we have some tips to get that extra storage space out of your condo.

In the bedroom

1. Store clothes under your bed. Get some of those huge plastic storage boxes of various shapes and sizes to take advantage of space between the floor and your bed. bedstorage

2. Don’t forget the headboard! Take every opportunity to cram storage into your room. You can easily find a headboard with built-in shelves or hidden storage cubbies.

3. Try getting a hanging clothes rack. Do you have a lot of vertical space but cramped closets? You can find great clothing racks that you can hang near an empty wall. It’s a great way to increase your wardrobe capacity! (More shopping!)

4. You can consider a platform bed with built-in drawers.  There are varieties of bed platforms already equipped with pull-out drawers. No need to buy additional storage boxes.

In the kitchen

1. Hang up your pots and pans! You can maximize precious kitchen space by suspending pots and pans from decorative ceiling hangers. You can easily buy these at the hardware store, and they even come in many decorative shapes. This will not only free up cabinet space, but make you look like a serious cook as well! potspans 2. Install Lazy Susan shelves in corners. Utilize corner space by putting Lazy Susan shelves that can hold spices, condiments and other cooking necessities. This is a useful trick for keeping cooking ingredients accessible as well as great space saving.
