2014 Grand Openings!!

Grand Openings! Well, we are almost halfway through 2014 already! You know what they say, time flies when you are having fun and oh, boy we are having FUN at Surplus Furniture and Mattress Warehouse this year! It has been an exciting and eventful year so far, having already opened 3 new store locations! We are so excited to welcome these new locations into our ever growing family and we wanted to take a few moments to introduce them to you! First up is our new location in Brantford, Ontario, a short one hour drive from Toronto. Brantford is also known as the Telephone City, since it is home of Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor of the telephone. It's also the birth place of Wayne Gretzky, Phil Hartman and Lawren Harris (from the Group of Seven). Named after Joseph Brant, a Mohawk leader, who's many descendants still live in the neighbouring reserve of the Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation, Brantford became our 20th store location in Canada and we're very excited to serve the Brantford community. Next up is our new location in Brandon, Manitoba, located just outside of Winnipeg along the Assiniboine River. Brandon is the second largest city in Manitoba, voted by MoneySense magazine as the 6th best place to live in Canada! It's also home of the Brandon Wheat Kings who have won the Turnball Cup Championship 8 times and appeared in the Memorial Cup 5 times. They also hold the current CHL record for most points (125) in a single season (go Wheat Kings!). Brandon became our 21st store location in Canada and we're very excited to serve the Brandon community. Our most recent store opening was in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, the third largest city in Northern Ontario, with a city population of 75,141 (based on 2011 statistics). Did you know that our store is located just across from the Ermatinger Old Stone House, which is the oldest stone house West of Toronto. Sault Ste. Marie is also home to the Greyhounds, who have won the national championship twice, and had players like Phil Esposito, Tony Esposito, Ron Francis, Paul Coffey, Bill Cook, Bun Cook, Wayne Gretzky, Newsy Lalonde, George McNamara, Marty Walsh, Joe Thornton, Jeff Carter, Matt D'Agostini, Tyler Kennedy, Jordan Nolan and more. Sault Ste. Marie became our 22nd location in Canada and we're very excited to serve the Sault Ste. Marie community. We love opening new stores and we love getting to meet new people! We love building new, lifelong relationships with our customers and employees. We hope to become part of these great communities and share in their rich culture and history.
